Water bills continue climbing all while property managers struggle to balance conservation with performance demands. Elizabeth Mesegue from Water Wise USA has been exploring innovative solutions that challenge conventional thinking about water efficiency. Her latest discoveries show property owners can achieve significant savings without sacrificing functionality, thanks to emerging technologies that target waste rather than restrict usage.
Uncovering a Hidden Source of Water Waste
Elizabeth’s found something that’s changing everything she thought she once knew about water savings. “One of the things that I’ve identified is particularly a special valve, which is exists in the industry where you can remove the air in the pipes before the water reaches the meter to cut back the water bill by an additional 17%,” she says.
This works on top of what she’s already doing with toilets. Her toilet solutions save customers between 20 and 60%. Now she can add this air removal system. “It will cut the water bill even more by 17%, minimum,” Elizabeth explains. The best part? It does not affect the water pressure or how much water you get when you turn on the tap. Water costs are not getting any cheaper either. “Water goes up every year, between four and a half, and three and a half percent,”she points out. “Never in the history of our time were there solutions being implemented to conserve this much water”, until now.
Challenging the Fear of Sacrifice
Most organizations assume water conservation means worse performance. Elizabeth thinks she knows why. “Change is difficult for people. It’s necessary, but it’s difficult. So the idea that they have to conserve water alone is not comfortable,” she says. But here’s what people don’t get. “The solutions that are in the market are not to compromise or sacrifice anyone from not obtaining the amount of water they need. They are simply in the market to address the waste part of the water we obtain that is being disposed of that doesn’t need to be,” Elizabeth explains.
She’s not talking about weak shower heads or toilets that barely flush. “It’s about controlling the loss. By controlling the loss, it does not compromise how the consumer uses water. It simply controls how the consumer is no longer wasting water that is not being used.” Think of it this way – you’re paying for water that’s going straight down the drain without anyone using it.
Three Ways to Cut Bills Without Cutting Performance
Elizabeth has three main recommendations for anyone looking to slash their water bills.
Fix the Silent Killers: Toilet Upgrades
Her top priority is always the toilets. “Allow Water Wise USA to replace your traditional toilet plumbing with our state-of-the-art solution which stops leaks, uses less water, and prevents catastrophic floods,” she says. “Silent leaky toilets are the number one culprit.” These hidden leaks can waste thousands of gallons without anyone noticing. The upgrade stops waste at the source while maintaining proper flushing power, delivering savings between 20-60% depending on existing conditions.
Small Changes, Big Impact
Don’t overlook the simple upgrades. “The shower heads and aerators can deliver by adjusting them to water-efficient ones, it can deliver a savings of 8 to 10% which might not seem like a lot, but if it’s a facility that has 100 units or more, it does compound,” Elizabeth explains. These modifications work especially well for larger properties where small percentage savings multiply across dozens or hundreds of units, creating substantial monthly reductions.
Revolutionary Air Removal Technology
Elizabeth’s newest discovery changes everything. “Removing air from the pipes is not going to control or minimize how much water they get. It’s just going to stop the meter from reading anything more than water,” she explains. This valve technology delivers an additional 17% savings minimum. “That is a huge savings which is very efficient,” Elizabeth notes. The system works without affecting pressure or water availability, making it a perfect complement to other conservation measures.
“AI is going to be very beneficial for our industry. It’s going to help us conduct much more thorough analysis, much more in-depth research in a much faster method,” she predicts. Imagine, your water bill jumps from $100 to $500 overnight. Right now, people panic and don’t know who to call. But Elizabeth sees AI changing that. “AI will give you remedies and quick solutions if you go to ChatGPT. Once we become more evolved in the world with this, awareness of water conservation, GPT will probably tell you, well, you’re going to have to get a leak detection. You’re going to have to check your toilets.” She’s excited about it. “It’s just really information at lightning speed that helps you make a decision quicker. That’s beautiful. I’m all about it. I’m pro AI.” For Elizabeth, the message is simple: you don’t have to choose between saving money and getting good performance. You just have to stop paying for water you’re not actually using.
